I went on a rather long hike in Glacier National Park in Canada with the aim of getting up close and personal with a glacier. I succeeded, and found that one of the most profound parts of this experience were the various sounds produced by the melting glacier - from crackling near the surface in the upper reaches, to drips, trickles, and cascades.
Melting glaciers is something I've heard about again and again in the context of climate change, and I'm sure you have as well. This is what it looks and sounds like up close...
