Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is around 18 Kilometers from Almora Town. It is spread over 50 square kilometers at an altitude. The altitude varying from 1500 to 2500 meters. It boasts of 166 recorded species of birds and is also listed as an important Birding Area (IBA). If you are lucky, you may spit मोनल, the state bird of Uttarakhand. बिनसर has one of the last remaining natural temperate broad leaved forests in the middle Himalaya. It is the only wildlife sanctuary where walking is permitted on the 62 Kilometers of designated paths. The clear winter skies offer uninterrupted views the majestic peaks of Nanda devi, Nanda kot, Trishul and Panchachuli. The sanctuary is open all year round.
