KENYA - Mchodey lives with her family in a remote village in Kenya. For more than two years, she was blind due to cataracts in both of her eyes.
She said, “Before I did chores like fetching water and firewood and looked after livestock. After I went blind, I couldn't do anything. I just slept in the house and waited for people to do everything for me. Even when I needed to go to the bathroom, I couldn't go by myself. I got very depressed and hated myself. I felt like I was going to lose my mind.”
She was depressed saying, “I almost took my own life because I felt like I couldn't go on living without my eyesight.”
When an Operation Blessing, medical team went to her village, Mchodey eagerly sought our help. She was one of 84 people there who received free cataract surgeries.
She rejoiced, “When they removed the bandages from my eyes. I was amazed that I could see so clearly again. I shouted. God has indeed blessed me, His child. When I arrived back home, people came to witness that I got my eyesight back. I'm very grateful and I pray every day that God bless you and increase you so you can reach out to help others in need.”
