In the first lecture of the joint course “Peace and Conflict at Global Level: Contemporary Issues”, Prof. Mohammed Hadi Abdul-Ganiy Bolaji talked about “Ethnic Conflicts in Africa: Types, Patterns and the Debates”. He presented the main causes for ethnic conflicts in the African continent, discussing different conflicts and their particularities. Prof. Bolaji is an Associate Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies (PCS) at the Department of History and Political Science (HPS) of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Arts (FoSSA), SD Dombo University for Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS), Ghana. He is also the Foundation Dean of the School of Education and Life-Long Learning (SoELL). He specializes in Ethnic and Religious Conflicts and has published on ethnic and religious conflicts in Ghana and Nigeria in internationally peered reviewed journals.
The joint course “Peace and Conflict at Global Level: Contemporary Issues” focuses on the contemporary tools to conflict management, resolution and transformation used to promote peace, discussing concrete cases and different perspectives from around the world.
The course is attended by more than 30 students from different countries. It is organized by Glaucia Peres da Silva and Alhassan Tahiru (Global Awareness Education/TRACS, University pf Tübingen, Germany) in partnership with Prof. Gilberto M. A. Rodrigues (Federal University of ABC, Brazil), and offered in the CIVIs micro-programme Global Awareness.
