In this video Robin highlights research into managing the effects of time-varying flows of renewable energy in the rural electricity network.
Background:
Wind, wave, and tidal energy are time varying, geographically dispersed and remote from the load centres. Without upgrading the capacity of rural distribution networks delivery of the renewable energy may need to be constrained. This research models the interaction of renewable energy generation and the distribution network to explore control and management that will maximise energy production and onward delivery.
