SOT Bill Clinton, President of the United States: "The bombing was a pure act of terror. An act of cowardice which stands against the courage of the athletes. Can I extend prayers to those injured. Praise security personnel who saw package, alerted the crowd and prevented severe loss of life. Thank hospital staff who helped at the scene. I was impressed by their confidence and heroism. I followed reports all night. I spoke to the President of the IOC; Governor of Atlanta, Attorney general and Head of FBI. I want to make clear our common determination to track down the people responsible and see they are punished. We are all agreed the games will go on. I know people who have worked so hard to put on games. We saw the spirit of work this morning. The people, were clearly determined to let the games go on. The act of terrorism is aimed at the spirit of optimism. We are doing everything in our power to prevent such attacks. The investigation will continue all day. We must not let these attacks stop us from going forward. It is not the american way to let terror reign. We must be firm we can not be intimidated by actions of terror. We must go on.
