In the summer of 2021 extreme flooding devastated many areas of Detroit, including Jocelyn and Stanley's home in the Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood. Beyond priceless family heirlooms and home appliances, the floods took something invaluable from Stanley.
It is imperative that we continue to fight climate change through bold action at both the state and federal levels. The Build Back Better Act did not pass, but the Inflation Reduction Act passed in 2022 contains funding for projects designed to help us fight climate change and its effects like the extreme flooding Detroit saw in 2021. Governor Whitmer's MI Healthy Climate Plan includes steps to put Michigan on track to reach carbon neutrality by 2050, positioning Michigan to be a leader in the climate fight.
