On Tuesday, Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan announced that he will not run for re-election in 2023. So who might be next for the office?

So far, the only candidates who have filed to run are Akron City Councilman Shammas Malik and Chapel Hill resident Joshua Schaffer.

Marco Sommerville, a former Council president now serving as Deputy Mayor for Intergovernmental Affairs, has announced his candidacy.

And just today -- Summit County Councilman Jeff Wilhite said he's running as well.

The primary election is set for May of next year
