Little Reader 3 Steps is the fruit of 20 years' experience in teaching Arabic and Quran reading to non-native Arabic speakers. It is designed to help children who live in the western societies, or are not native Arabic speakers, to read and write Arabic in a step by step fashion towards reading Quran. By the end of the third step, the little reader should be ready to start the Tajweed journey in more depth. Each lesson contains classwork and homework to fit Sunday schools, weekday schools, or homeschooling.
Little Reader 3 Steps is a revolutionary book in teaching the Arabic Alphabet to non-Arabic speakers as it is very important for children to learn the right pronunciation from the very beginning. Letters that have a special pronunciation in Arabic, such as ظ ط ح ق غ ع ض ص were not written in English; instead, the author preferred to teach them through listening only. If the educator is not a native speaker of Arabic, it is advised that he or she uses an audio source to teach these letters.
The book was applied in a real classroom setting and modified accordingly, numerous times. In the first step, little reader will learn the Alphabet along with the Makhaarij. In the second step, Little Reader will learn the different shapes of the letters (beginning, middle and end) and will start reading 3 letters words. In the third step, Little Reader will learn the Harakaat and the basics of Tajweed with applications from the Quran.
