(5 Dec 2018) Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge flew to Cyprus on Wednesday to deliver some Christmas cheer to service personnel stationed at Royal Air Force base Akrotiri.
They brought Christmas gifts and holiday greetings from home and paid tribute to British troops deployed overseas.
At one point during the visit, the royal couple cut a celebration cake, with Prince William describing it as "fantastic".
An estimated 11,000 soldiers, sailors, air personnel and marines are taking part in foreign operations over the holidays.
The Akrotiri base plays an important role in Britain's activities throughout the Middle East.
