Mortality rates of African-Americans have risen in recent years, especially for black middle-age people, because of the new coronavirus. Meanwhile, the protests sparked by George Floyd's murder have exceeded others in recent history in terms of scope and impact. But some have concerns the demonstrations will lose steam, particularly as businesses reopen and people go back to work after coronavirus lockdowns end.
After more than two weeks of demonstrations, protesters across the US hope to combat fatigue and preserve the momentum of the movement that has so far spurred steps toward widespread police reforms.
