Nicolas Cage reveals the real reason behind his string of "crummy" movies.

In a recent interview with 60 Minutes, Nicolas Cage opened up about the financial troubles that led him to take on less-than-stellar movie roles. The actor accrued a $6 million debt after the economic crash of 2008 and turned to making three to four movies a year to pay it off. Cage explained that work was his "guardian angel" during this difficult period and that he took every job seriously. Now that he's debt-free, Cage is back to making the quality movies we know him for.
