In a 45 minute panel discussion for the open access Data-Centric Engineering journal (cambridge.org/dce), leading researchers from industry and academia discussed how recent advances in data science methodologies can be applied to real-world chemical processes and industry. How can we leverage these technologies to make our chemical processes more efficient, profitable, environmentally friendly, and safe? What are the new avenues of research that combine chemical/process engineering and data science? Speakers include:
• Francisco Navarro-Brull (Industrial Data Scientist at Solvay)
• Oscar Mendez Lucio (Research Scientist, Artificial Intelligence for Drug Design, Janssen Pharmaceutical)
• Costas Pantelides (Managing Director at Process Systems Enterprise Ltd and Professor of Chemical Engineering, Imperial College London)
• Maria Jose Nieves Remacha (Senior Research Scientist at Eli Lilly)
• Ruth Misener (Professor in Computational Optimisation at Imperial College London)
Organised by Antonio del Rio Chanona and Omar Matar of Imperial College London, and the DCE Editorial team.
