Start your day on the right foot with this hearty Oatmeal Porridge.
Yield: 2 to 4 Servings
Ingredients:
Water – 4 cups
Bay Leaves - 2
Cinnamon Stick - 1
Rolled Oats - 1 ½ cups
Salt – 1 pinch
Evaporated Milk - 1 ½ cups
Nutmeg - ½ tsp (grated)
Condensed Milk - 1 cup
Mixed Essence - ¼ tsp
Aromatic Bitters – 1 Dash
Method:
In a medium pot over medium heat, add water, bay leaves and cinnamon sticks.
Bring to a boil and allow to cook for 10 mins.
Stir in rolled oats and salt and allow to cook for 5 mins, stirring occasionally.
When the mixture thickens, lower the heat and whisk in evaporated milk, nutmeg, condensed milk, essence and bitters.
Whisk mixture and allow to simmer for 15 mins.
As it continues to cook and reduce, add water to adjust desired thickness of the porridge.
