2019 is the International Year of Indigenous Languages and around the world there'll be a focus on the cultures of First Nations. In Cape Town, there'll be two major events that put the spotlight on the Khoe and San nations of South Africa. First, scheduled for the end of January, is the premiere of the landmark film, Rooibos Restitution, that tells the story of the historic victory of the Khoi and San people for recognition of their Traditional Knowledge with regard to Rooibos. Then a week later it will be the premiere of a musical theatre play entitled Krotoa Eva van de Kaap-story of a young Khoe woman who grew up in the household of Jan van Riebeeck and puts her firmly in charge of her own narrative. With us in studio to talk about these two ground-breaking creative works is the Director of the film Rooibos Restitution, Sylvia Vollenhoven, who is also the author of the play Krotoa Eva van de Kaap.
