RCMP have seized a record number of drugs and firearms,, calling it the largest and most sophisticated drug superlab in Canadian history.
Assist. Commissioner David Teboul, the RCMP's commander of federal policing for the Pacific Region, told reporters Thursday that the bust was the result of several months of investigative work into a transnational organized crime group involved in the production and distribution of massive quantities of illicit drugs.
Police seized illegal firearms, synthetic drugs and precursor chemicals, he said.
Over the weekend, Teboul said numerous enforcement actions and search warrants were executed related to the drug superlab in Falkland, B.C., and other locations in Surrey.
And as Global's Aaron McArthur reports, despite the significant size of the operation, just one arrest has been made.
