In this video I'm setting up Geoff's Cort G280. It's a very nicely made guitar with a few very smart details. One of these is the 'push-in' tremolo arm with its external grub screw for taking the slack out of the arm. I've long been a fan of Wilkinson 'push-in' tremolo arms because they have none of the 'slop and rattle' of the regular 'screw-in' type. But Wilkinson places the adjuster grub screw at the back of the block below the level of the bridge plate. This means that you have to push down the arm to lift the tremolo plate before you can tighten that grub screw. With the Cort bridge, that screw is easily accessible above the tremolo plate. Just a smart little innovation.
Along with that you've got a body-end truss rod adjuster wheel (easily accessible) and a sculpted back of the neck heel for comfort. All the expected body carves to make the rest of the guitar comfortable to play; and a brushed steel-looking bridge humbucker. Just that little bit different to the norm.
The guitar suffered from the bone nut creating pinging and being the source of tuning instability so I replaced that with a Tusq one. There was a choke-out on high E and B bends starting at the 15th fret (thanks to a low 15th fret) - my 'Banana' levelling method took care of that.
Lovely-looking guitar with quality hallmarks.
