Kigali Global Dialogue 2023 | Identity Reclaimed: The Power of Narratives and Storytelling |
For much of the 20th century, underlying the economic and geopolitical prowess of the West was a cultural dominance that shaped narratives on nations, individuals, and their history. As more countries join the global high-table, they are wresting control of these narratives and shaping them through their vantage point.
Why is reclaiming cultural identity particularly important in today’s global context? What are the ways and means by which communities are showcasing their heritage? How have digital technologies aided this phenomenon? How can we invest in our youth to be global citizens while taking pride in their art, cuisine, and creativity?
