I hadn't even finished the engine rebuild on "Dwight" (our 2018 Polaris Ace 570) when my daughter brought home "Floyd" (our 2019 Ace 570) with axle noise. When I checked them, I found that BOTH half shafts were EXTREMELY loose at the rear differential. I have never seen so much play in an axle at the differential. I had to pull them both out to see if I was just replacing axles or if it was going to need the transmission torn down to replace the output shaft.
This procedure is the same for the ACE 325, and pretty much any SXS or ATV.
These axles were STUCK and no amount of pulling by hand was going to get them out. I had to use a special tool, but the trick is to hang them up so they are "neutral". This takes the pressure off so that they will pop out. I'll show you how to do this in the video.
I was surprised to find the tear in the boot as well as the slop in the axles, as I checked them at the last service interval. That was about 15 hours of use ago though. I suppose that's a lot of time for something to go wrong!
Here's a link to the CV Axle Puller tool. Don't worry about the cost. If you find yourself pulling axles, this is the tool you want to have available.
