Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minster Najib Mikati appeared confused on Wednesday night (March 27) as he was at Beirut Rafic Hariri airport to welcome his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni.
Mikati warmly greeted the aide of Meloni first and turned as if to walk her down the welcoming carpet, appearing to have mistaken her for the Italian premier, who was still on the plane.
Mikati's office did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for a comment.
Meloni was on a two-day visit to Lebanon, in which she met with Mikati on Wednesday and took a trip south on Thursday (March 28) to visit the Italian peacekeeping troops in southern Lebanon.
