There are 8 brand-new KONE Monospace MRL Glass elevators on this commuter train station, but only 4 of them are accessible at the moment, since the direct passageway from the Airport station to the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport has still not been completed (it will finish in the Autumn of this year, so 4 more elevators are coming!) Right now, the distance between the exit on Tietotie and the Airport terminals (1 and 2) is about 300 and 800 metres, respectively - it is still at a walking distance, but there is free temporary shuttle bus service which takes 5 minutes, for those who don't want to walk with the luggage. The elevators speak Finnish, Swedish and English. The 18-km Airport Ring Line (Kehärata/Ringbanan) with 5 new stations, connecting the Helsinki city centre to the Helsinki-Vantaa airport and also connecting Myyrmäki and Tikkurila in Vantaa and serving new residential areas, opened on 1.7.2015, and the Airport commuter train station was opened on 10.7.2015. Two stations are located underground - Aviapolis and Airport (Lentoasema/Flygplatsen), in an 8-km long tunnel. The project had been delayed for about a year, and it had been under construction since 2009. It takes about 27 minutes to get to the airport from the city centre, via Tikkurila (the trains stop at all the stations).
