Two people were arrested following an investigation into a string of airplane ticket and internet scams on Craigslist. Police are searching for a third suspect.
Teisha Dunbar, 26, of Decatur, Nicholas Gates, 29, of Palmetto, and Natiya Pope, 40, of Union City, are accused of operating an "elaborate" scam on social media where police said they advertised Delta Airlines tickets and Comcast box internet sales. Police said everything they were advertising was fake.
The investigation began after a woman found an ad on Craiglist, and made an online purchase. Not long after, police said she realized the purchase was a scam.
According to police, the victim contacted the suspects, pretending to want to make another transaction, but told them she wanted to meet in person so she could pay with cash. She contacted police before the arranged meeting at a hair salon on Centerville Highway in unincorporated Snellville.
Gates and Dunbar were arrested at the hair salon, but Pope remains at large. There are warrants out for her arrest.
The suspects have been charged with two felony counts of theft by deception.
Police are urging any other victims to report fraudulent transactions involving the suspects.
