On June 7th, 1954, all 4 Iowa class battleships of the United States Navy, USS Iowa, USS New Jersey, USS Missouri and USS Wisconsin, operated together for the 1st and only time ever on film as US Navy Battleship Division 2 maneuvered off the Virginia Capes operating area at the entrance to the Chesapeake Bay. Generally, after the end of WW2 and the North Carolina and South Dakota classes were placed in the reserve fleet, the US Navy kept 2 of the Iowa's on the West Coast and 2 on the East Coast. In June 1954, it just so happened that all 4 were in the vicinity of the Chesapeake Bay for various reasons, so they got together and made some history!
