Building positive work relationships is key to Norfolk Southern’s focus on behavior-based safety leadership. Employees are taking the lead with peer-to-peer efforts to reduce at-risk work behaviors. This video highlights how locomotive engineers on the railroad’s Harrisburg Division in Pennsylvania undertook a voluntary initiative to raise awareness and ensure compliance with federal safety rules that restrict the use of electronic devices by on-duty train crews. The pilot project, Railroaders Identifying Digital Distraction, was funded by the Federal Railroad Administration through the Railroad Research Foundation.
