Hauling the first of many railtours oeprated by LSL to the Bath Christmas Market, 70000 Britannia would be at the head of the Steam Dreams Excursion to the historic city.
The route would see Britannia head along new territory, as it travelled from London Victoria to Epsom via Brixton, Streatham & Worcester Park. The tour would then head to Guildford via Effingham Junction, to reach Bath via Fareham, Salisbury and Avoncliff. The return would follow a similar route, but with diesel haulage from Salisbury, and heading via Cheam instead of Worcester Park.
Having had less luck filming steam along the SWR route to Epsom earlier this year with Mayflower, I returned to Motspur Park in the hope of better luck, and wasn't disappointed, as Britannia powers through towards Epsom. A tight overtake to Horsley was then made, to capture the Brit working up the 1 in 100 grade. Having made a passenger pickup at Effingham Junction, the Brit managed to get up the grade with little assistance, despite various wheelslips. Finally, with a water stop at Clandon one more shot was possible, and head to Ferry Ln in Guildford, located between Guildford Chalk and Sand tunnels, as Britannia powers away from another pickup at Guildford through the mist, leaving a huge trail of smoke behind.
