UPDATE:
A lot of attention has been brought to my video where I "cleaned" a moldy mate gourd by simply using boiling water.
After receiving hundreds and thousands of comments, it's led me to consider doing more research. And what I've found that seems to be the case, is that it is not a complete solution to the problem.
Boiling water can kill mold but not its toxins.
But what I've also found is that other methods - even traditional ones where you use alcohol and fire, or citrus juice/vinegar - cannot completely get rid of the mold either.
The only way to fully get rid of it is with chemicals, which will render the gourd unsafe to drink from.
So if you see mold in your gourd, the 100% safe route is to just get a new one.
At the end of the day, I don't know everything nor ever claimed to. Everything I post is merely my own personal experience and truth. Not fact. No one is ever forced to follow what I do.
I've drank from a "cleaned" moldy gourd before, and had no issues. And I also still use the one from the video and had no issues.
No one (not even people in the comments) know 100% whether it's safe to drink from or not as not all molds are harmful and can be safe for consumption.
It's for this reason, why I disabled the comments and will not remove my video.
No one knows the answer.
But I can speak from experience that I've "cleaned" a moldy gourd before, used it, and had no adverse effects. This I know for a fact.
So again, do as you wish.
There will always be someone who disagrees with me (probably one of you reading and about to comment right now) and thinks they're always right, which is why I don't respond to them. But I am always open minded and will accept criticism
