MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) The City of Mobile has a new tool to track crime in your area and it works similar to a social networking site. The site is called NextDoor and it operates like Facebook.
The City of Mobile tipped Local 15 News off to the website, and they're encouraging citizens of the Port City to join the site. It's free of charge.
You first sign up with your email address, then you pinpoint your location. Now you can securely share information with other folks in your area, called emergency trends. You can also search for crime trends in your neighborhood.
The Mobile County Sheriff's Office has something similar for folks who live in the county called Crimetracker. It's an interactive map that pinpoints crimes across the county. All you do is search for the map for the area you want, then refer to the tool bar to figure out what types of crimes have been reported.
