If you need to align your 1969 through 1976 Corvette hood, and you'd like to be able to open it again after you close it, in this video I show you a handy hood lockpin alignment tool that you can make right at home.
Several Corvette parts vendors sell aluminum alignment tools, and although I've never bought or used one, I am sure they make life easier if you want to properly align the hood locking pins and avoid being locked out of your C3 Corvette’s hood.
But if you need to get your hood aligned today, you can make your own with components you most likely already have in your garage.
For the hood to pop open when you pull the handle, the latches and lock pins must be perfectly aligned, so you'll have to loosen the lock pin brackets to get the job done.
I've been using my own alignment method which does not include an alignment tool. I was using the latches to align the lock pins, but it was a trial-and-error approach and it got me in trouble more than once. Luckily, one of my YouTube subscribers shared a valuable tip.
Use a lawnmower spark plug socket as the alignment tool.
Simple yet brilliant. Thanks, Geoff!
So, if you need to adjust your 1969 to 1976 Corvette hood locking pins, I hope you will find the video helpful.
Thank you for watching! 🙂👍🏻
