Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday said her government will bring back main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party Chairman Tarique Rahman and execute the court sentence against him. “We have already discussed with the British government to return this convicted fugitive to Bangladesh. We will bring him and execute the sentence,” Hasina was quoted as saying by news agency UNB. Terming Rahman as black sheep, Hasina said if his punishment is executed, people of Bangladesh will be free from hands of militants and arsonists - a reference to BNP-Jammat led violence in the past. Hasina stressed that carrying out the sentences is essential for ensuring peace and security, and continuing the country’s economic progress. She added that along with Rahman, murderers of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who are absconding abroad, will also be brought back.
