I recently found myself in a week-long yarn spinning competition—Spin Together 2020—without a good way to ply 3 yarns together. I've made do the few times I've spun in the past with knitting needles through a cardboard box, but without any tension on the bobbins, they can spin a bit out of control while plying, which slows things down, and occasionally causes chaos. So, a day before the competition, I thought through the parts I might need to mimic a style of lazy kate I've seen before, and made a quick Home Depot run. I didn't get to assembling it until the 2nd night of the competition, but I didn't have 3 full bobbins to ply until the following (3rd) day anyway, so it worked out!

I was on team Griffin Dyeworks! Congrats to all the teams, and thanks to everyone involved in putting it together! It finally clicked, and I finally got comfortable with spinning yarn on a spinning wheel (Ashford Traveller)!
