Yaffed's executive director Naftuli Moster testified before the Joint Legislative Committee (2/6/19) on the topic of secular education in Hasidic Yeshivas. It is worth watching, including the questions and comments from the legislators.

This testimony was last in an 11+ hour hearing. Earlier in the hearing, Agudath Israel's Albany lobbyist testified as well, and he resorted to misleading the committee members.

During the lengthy hearing, a delegation from Yaffed met with legislators' staff and held a press conference in a nearby room calling on the legislature to strengthen oversight of non-public schools.

These efforts are paying off. Legislators are increasingly aware of the issue, and for the first time in decades are challenging Agudath Israel's claims and calling them out for trying to cover for schools that are denying tens of thousands of Jewish children an education.

Share widely! And tell Agudath Israel to stop spending time and resources protecting Yeshivas that refuse to provide their students with a basic education and with the tools they need to succeed outside the walls of the Yeshiva.
