Spoiler Alert! It’s almost April Fools’ Day!
As I shared last year, April Fools Fay is my annual reminder to ‘not to be a fool’ & make sure my digital life is organized.
As an artist & ADHD’er I’ve made mistakes in the past that led to loosing important data. So I like the yearly reminder to change my passwords, delete unused accounts/subscriptions, & do extra backups.
Digital storage devices aren’t actually meant to last that long. I sometimes wonder if we’ll end up loosing more data from our time than paper-based generations before us. It’s important not to have everything backed up to just one storage device. Or have all drives stored in the same place.
I use blue-ray M-disks (from Amazon or Staples) to store important artwork images as they’re the most archival digital storage. But you will need a blu ray burner.
But this year I thought I’d add a few ways to protect my art from AI into the April Fools Day line up. Artists, I’d love to know what you think about Glaze & Nightshade which are tools to protect your images from being scraped by AI art models without permission. Or have you ever used haveibeentrained.com a website that tells you if your images have been mined to train AI in breach of copyright.
It seems we’re entering a whole new digital space to be wary of! 🙃
