A man is dead after a shooting Tuesday afternoon, the Newport Police Department said. Police responded to a shooting in the zero block of Traverse Road. When officers arrived, they found a man, later identified as 21-year-old Amari Mazwell, seriously injured from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
