As the climate emergency becomes more severe, global CO2 emissions from energy combustion and industrial processes rebounded in 2021 to reach their highest ever annual level. A 6% increase from 2020 pushed emissions to 36.3 gigatonnes (Gt). Delaying sustainability and climate action commitments is no longer an option.
At the same time the global energy crisis and fossil fuel availability threaten business continuity. Electrification of industrial processes promises to help address both challenges in front of energy-intensive users. First, because electricity is the most efficient energy and the best vector for decarbonization. Second, because an estimated 50% of energy used by industries can be electrified.
