Oral cholera vaccines were introduced to Somalia in 2017 as both a preventative and responsive measure during the cholera outbreak which affected over 78 000 people and caused over 1100 deaths. The campaigns were among the largest in Africa, and helped to reduce the number of new cholera cases in the country. This is the third of a 4-part mini-series on WHO’s response to the 2017 cholera outbreak in Somalia.
