The Department of Social Development is taking its Orange Day campaign to Emalahleni municipality, targeting the Ezingqolweni community and nearby areas. Elderly people who are mostly women and stay alone have been targeted by criminals in the area. The Orange Day campaign, which is a proclamation by UN-Women, seeks to mobilise the government, the private sector and communities to take action against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide. They hope to achieve this by wearing orange on the 25th of each month to help raise awareness and get individuals and communities to end GBVF.
