Watch a fun folk dancing competition between Nisser (elves) at the Norwegian Folk Museum Christmas Market. Considered the oldest dance in northern Europe, the Hallingdans involves young men trying to perform a move called hallingkast -- where they try to kick the hat off of a stick held aloft by a girl. The dance itself originated in Valdres and Hallingdale, Norway.
