More than 1,000 people packed into the passenger terminal at the British end of the Channel Tunnel on Friday (Dec. 27) as passengers faced delays of several hours on their journeys to France.
It took travellers more than an hour to make it through ticket barriers while those looking for food faced lines of up to 30 minutes.
LeShuttle, which operates the England-France vehicle shuttle, said the delay was caused by a Eurostar passenger train, which stopped inside the tunnel due to a technical fault. By 12:35 GMT, the issue had been resolved and services were running normally, LeShuttle said.
According to Eurostar, the faulty passenger train was running with a five-hour delay, with knock-on delays of 30-60 minutes on later trains.
