This Autumn we look forward to the release of Netflix film, ‘Joy’, which tells the 10-year story of how RBMO founder, Bob Edwards with his colleagues Patrick Steptoe, and Jean Purdy, a nurse through whose eyes the story is told, achieved the birth of the world's first IVF baby, Louise Joy Brown. To mark the release of this film, as we approach Professor Edwards’ 100th birthday, and the 25th anniversary of RBMO, we have penned an ‘Ode to Joy’ Editorial, and published a commentary from Dr Kamal Ahuja, co-founder of our journal, in which he recalls the inspirational role that the late Sir Robert Edwards played in his own career.
