Clarification of the fire/sugar part:
When you've poured the glögg over the sugar - taste and see if you think its sweet enough. Otherwise, repeat until it's as sweet as you want it. All the sugar doesn't need to be dissolved, but you need at least half of it.
Recipe and instructions:
750 ml wine
200 ml vodka
3 cinnamon sticks
8 dried cloves
2 pcs of bitter orange
2 tbsp of cardamom seeds
3 cm of ginger,
400 gr lump of sugar
Warm the red wine and the vodka together with the spices in a pot.
Put the lump of sugar on a grid on top of a second pot.
Put the mix of vine and vodka to fire and pour slowly over the sugar.
Put out the fire with a lid
Taste the glögg to see if its sweet enough. If not, add more sugar and repeat.
(If you think the fire part sounds dangerour you can add the sugar directly to the pot. Start with 200 gr of sugar)
Let the glögg cool down and let sit for a couple of hours
Bottle the glögg or warm it up and drink immediatley.
