This is one of the most stunning looking basses I have ever seen!
Beauty is not just skin deep though - the tone is killer, and like all Dingwalls it plays effortlessly.
Check out that gorgeous Dual Density Swamp Ash body topped with wenge and flame maple contrast layers and a spectacular Maple Burl top, brought to life with an incredible indigo to white reverseburst finish.
Its passive electronics include a pair of Super Fatty II pickups plus a P-Tone pickup in the neck position.
This bass has been further upgraded at John Fox Bass with an aftermarket 6-way pickup selector switch. When that is combined with the onboard Series/Parallel toggle switches, 24 tone permutations result! Specifically:
1 - Middle Solo w/2 toggle switch options
2 - Bridge and Middle in Parallel, w/ 4 toggle switch options
3 - Bridge and Middle in Series, w/ 4 toggle switch options
4 - Bridge and Neck in Parallel, w/ 4 toggle switch options
5 - Neck Solo, w/ 2 toggle switch options
6 - Bridge and Middle in Parallel, in Series w/ Neck, w/ 8 toggle switch options
Since the P-Tone pickup needs to be wired in Series to give the full P-bass tone it was designed to produce, 7 of these 24 options will probably never get used. But that still leaves 17 distinct tones to choose from, and that's before even touching the tone control. In other words, a tremendous amount of tonal flexibility even for a passive bass.
This bass has been sold, but you can get YOUR custom Dingwall at JohnFoxBass.com.
