Most important conditions for aligning. With a disc stylus with roller, we can measure the plane on the Z axis. We can define all 6 degrees of freedom for a detail and get the most accurate measurements.
Advice for measuring. To correctly measure the groove diameter, we must use disc styluses. If the groove diameter is located deeper than the length of the qualified disc stylus, we can use a stylus extension. Extension cords come in different lengths 5, 10, 20, 40, 60, 100 mm. In this case, we will need to do the procedure for qualifying the disc stylus nut now with extension. Touching should only be done with the disc tip of the stylus.
Aligning the axes. With the help of a roller, we can measure the plane to immediately determine the 3 degrees of freedom for the part to be measured. Measure the line along the X axis and determine 2 more degrees of freedom, measure the line along the Y axis and determine the last degree of freedom. We constructed the full coordinate system of the measured detail.
