Several homes on North Hills Road in Springettsbury Township will soon be gone.
A PennDOT official says demolition is expected to begin in less than two weeks.
“Contractors are staging to do some building demolition around exit 19, North Hills Road area, we expect that work is going to start sometime around July 22,” said David Thompson, District 8 Press Officer.
The homes are being torn down as part of PennDOT’s I-83 North York Widening Project.
The multi-year project aims to improve traffic flow and safety on and off Interstate 83.
“It’s basically expanding I-83, widening interstate I-83, and doing interchange improvements between exit 19 and exit 22,” Thompson said.
The project will be done in stages, some of which have already been completed.
