🍇🍷 UNUSUAL GRAPE VARIETAL - MARSELAN 🍇🍷

🍇 Marselan - the child of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache - the grape was designed by Prof Paul Truel.

🍇 What is striking to start with is the label - very “unclassically French” - it was designed by a local artist as a homage to the Prof who designed the grape.

🍇 Xavier Roger, the producer. ABV 14.5%

🍇 I expected this to be a dark Ruby intense colour which it was but I was not expecting the nose to be intense with blackcurrants, blackberries, dark and red plums, violets - dancing together!

🍇 On the palate - boom it hits you and stays with you. The length of finish is impressive with even a Christmassy feel to the palate from a hint of cinnamon and some black pepper spice.

🍇 The biggest surprise - the tannins. Despite this wine being big, bold, opulent -it is the subtlety of the tannins and the balance that is superb!

🏷️ Price tag of £10.49 a bottle - great value for me and whilst this really will be perfect for your lamb and beef dishes, it will also pair with a fish stew or a tomato based vegetable risotto too!

BUT as you can hear, I’m having it with pizza 🍕 tonight 🤣
