The Calamondin Orange tree produces 1" orange colored fruit that is a cross between a mandarin orange and kumquat, and it is originally from China. The fruit is slightly sour, making them more like limes and lemons in taste and use. The peels are edible, and the fruit is often eaten whole. Calamondin oranges are very healthy containing fiber, potassium, vitamin C, and vitamin A.
I have a calamondin tree in my backyard garden that is producing fruit. There's no reason to have a fruit tree in your garden unless you plan on eating some of the harvest. Let me show you how to make a tasty calamondin orange marmalade that you can do from a calamondin tree in your own backyard garden!

Calamondin Orange Marmalade Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 20 fresh calamondin oranges
- Equal amounts of cane sugar
- 5/8 Cup of water
- 1/2 tablespoon butter
1 - Cut oranges in half.
2 - Squeeze juice into bowl and remove seeds. Set aside juice.
3 - Cut the orange rind/pulp into thin strips about 1/2" long.
4 - Combine the cut up oranges, juice, and about 5/8 cup of water into a bowl.
5 - Place on scale and put the same amount of cane sugar into another bowl.
6 - Put oranges, juice and water into a pot on the stove on low.
7 - Add the sugar and add 1/2 tablespoon of butter to the pot.
8 - Heat on low, stirring occasionally so the sugar melts rather than scorches on the bottom.
9 - Once the sugar and butter have melted, turn the heat to medium high and bring up to 222 deg F.
10 - Remove pot from burner and prepare to transfer to jars.
11 - Fill the 1/2-pint jars with marmalade, wipe the rims and put the lid and metal bands on.
12 - Process marmalade jars in hot water bath for 20 minutes.
13 - Uncover and remove canning pot from hot burner.
14 - Wait 5 minutes or more before removing the jars from a hot water bath pot or longer with a pressure canning pot.
15 - Let cool for 24 hours to ensure the jars are sealed.
16 - Enjoy your harvest of Calamondin Orange Marmalade!
