The Kunze Panzer is a German tier 9 premium medium tank.
A project for a medium tank with a forward-tilted turret axis and a turret placement of all crew members. Developed in 1964, existed only in blueprints.
Performance :
Something of a weird cross between an STB-1 and one of the Leopard mediums. Standard mode features high mobility, great DPM, good gun soft stats but bad dispersion & aim time. Siege mode makes the gun soft stats worse, lowers the DPM significantly, and even lowers the mobility harshly, but dramatically buffs aim time (outweighs the soft stats penalty), dispersion & enables hydropneumatic suspension for an additional 5 degrees of gun depression.
Timing the switching between modes can actually boost the reload - taking a shot in Siege, and then exiting will make the reload have the normal time of the standard mode. Likewise, Siege can be activated 2 seconds before reloading to optimize efficiency. However, beware of the 2 seconds of being unable to move - only use it when it is able to be done safely.
Siege Mode's clunkiness, slow mobility and very low DPM makes the Kunze best suited for long range, where its main weaknesses will be of less issue. Never rely on any of the armor, as while the turret may occasionally troll bounce, it is far from reliable.
The extra -5 gun depression in Siege, however, is one key factor that significantly helps the Kunzepanzer - it raises the already very good -10 gun depression (frontally at least) to an excellent -15. The small size really helps as well, as clever usage of bushes on hills can make it nearly impossible to spot the Kunze.
If forced into a close range fight, standard mode's high DPM and mobility can make it somewhat usable, but if engaging particularly armored targets, such as the Obj. 705A, the fairly low 300 HEAT pen can be a huge drawback against well-positioned opponents.
Play to the Kunze's strengths, maximize efficiency of both modes, and it will prove to be a rewarding but weird tank.
Early Research
This is a premium/reward vehicle, it comes elite in its stock configuration. As usual for reward/premiums however, field modifications can be begun being researched from the start, a small advantage over tech tree vehicles.
Documented Tank and Crew Builds
Rammer/Vertical stabs/Optics, generalist setup (Optics can be switched for Bounty/Bond vents if the crew is good enough) Bounty Aiming/Vertical stabs/Bond/Bounty Vents, long-range combat setup & makes standard mode accuracy much better
