The Great Indian Bustard, known locally as ‘Godawan’ by the natives of Thar, is on the verge of extinction. At present, there are less than 150 birds of its kind left in the world. Wind turbines, power lines, and the ever-changing use of their natural habitat have reduced their home range to just 10% in the last decade. Without concrete efforts, these birds could go extinct within our lifetime. Follow us into Desert National Park to explore the lives of these unique birds.

The Habitats Trust (THT) was co-founded in 2018 by Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCL Tech, and Shikhar Malhotra, Director, of HCL Corporation. Both of them are Trustees of The Habitats Trust. The Trust aims to conserve and restore ecological functionality as a pathway towards human well-being. It works with a special focus on the conservation of lesser-known species and habitats that are threatened, but often neglected and are in urgent need of conservation attention. THT works in 26 states and union territories across India with 100+ partners on the ground. Over the years, THT has produced over 190 films that highlight local conservation heroes, along with shining a spotlight on lesser-known species and habitats.
