Last evening all of the stars aligned and we finally managed to get Petes car running after a long nine months of waiting on parts and a series of supporting upgrades.
If you have not been following since the beginning, Pete blew a head gasket at the start of last summers racing season. Uneven fuel distribution from his blow-through carb setup caused the issue and led us to find a cracked #8 piston.
Having one of the earliest versions a 347 stroker we needed to have a custom replacement piston made which took nearly four months in itself. In that time Pete decided to upgrade to a Holley Super Sniper to gain back some street manners and to hopefully prevent the lean condition from ever causing a problem again.
We needed to upgrade the fuel and ignition system to support the Sniper, but while waiting for parts we also upgraded the exhaust, rear suspension, installed a heater core and HVAC system, removed the old TKO transmission in favor of a new TKX, as well as various other bits and pieces.
