The organization Friends of Humanity dedicated to persecution of mutants has abducted Carly Anne Crocker, the patient and also the girlfriend of Dr Hank McCoy aka the Beast. While she is being interrogated by FOH's bigoted leader Graydon Creed Jr., Beast attempts to break in and save her but is quickly overpowered. Wolverine, who infiltrated FOH under the name John Logan, confronts Creed, reminding him of the rather claw-y family relationship that the mutant-hating bigot has. Subsequently, with the help of the other X-Men, Friends of Humanity learn the true basis of Creed's hatred - his father is Wolverine's nemesis, Graydon Creed Sr. aka Sabretooth. It turns out his son is just as hateful and sociopathic, he just redirected his fanatical hatred to all of mutantkind.
