Dorohusk, Poland
In the morning here along the Ukrainian border, volunteers thought they would need to relocate to another crossing to provide support, but then the people started coming.
Mainly women and children, as men were mandated to stay on to fight, started streaming across the border seeking supports.
From here people are being taken by busses, taxis and private cars to wherever they have to go, with many local Polish citizens, even from as far north as Gdansk, are volunteering to provide transport.
The entire movement at the border, which is extremely spontaneous and beautiful, is being provided by civilian volunteers who provide food, blankets, hygienic items, SIM cards, powering stations, even food for dogs.
Mixed Polish-Ukrainian couples, Ukrainians who have been living and studying in Poland, are here helping as well as others from other nations like Lithuania. As one man from Vilnius put it, “I couldn’t just sit at home, watching this on tv and do nothing!”
More reports by @refocusmedialabs coming from other border crossings, including Zosin and Przemyśl railway station.
